New Twist on the Hot Toddy!
I know when you hear the words Hot Toddy most of us think of the traditional hot toddy made with water, whiskey, honey and lemon. But, if you will, let us move away from the classics and get a bit inventive. I enjoy a hot tea any time of year, but sometimes it needs a little more kick or a little more warmth, enter the alcohol!! My husband and I have mixed and tried various different teas with various alcohols and this is a few of our favorite recipes we have come up with. All are simple and require only on cup of tea (1 tsp of tea to 8 oz. of hot water) and the required type of alcohol. Our absolute favorite is what we have termed:
MASALA FIRE: To make this all you need is a cup of our Masala Chai tea with a shot of Fireball
Whiskey. The blending of the Fireball with the clove, cinnamon and ginger in
this tea makes a warm and inviting drink. Feel free to adjust the amount of
alcohol you add.
I am also a BIG fan of our Caramel Black tea, and have mixed this with several different types of alcohol but my favorite is the Caramel Black with a shot of DeKuyper Buttershot. This is so smooth and slightly sweet drink. I also have mixed the Caramel Black with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. I have not tried any of these with the Caramel Rooibos, but if you prefer the rooibos teas give it a shot. Let me know how it tastes!
BUTTER CARAMEL BLACK: One cut of Caramel Black tea, a shot of Buttershot.
Now I know what you are thinking, these sound great but I'm feeling more tropical with summer just around the bend. Well good news I have a few suggestions for that too.
COCONUT RUM SUMMER TROPICS: Brew a cup of Summer Tropics tea. Now you can either
keep it hot or refrigerate or add ice to make it iced tea
and then add a shot or two of your favorite Coconut
Rum. Light, refreshing and reminds you of being on
vacation. Again, adjust to taste.
STRAWBERRY COCONUT: This mix uses your favorite coconut rum again and blends it with our
Wild Strawberry Tea. Again, you can drink it hot or cold.
Hope you try some of these concoctions and enjoy them as much as I do. Try serving them at a party or picnic (when we are allowed to be social again of course). Enjoy!!!
